clippi is built privacy-first. Your videos are processed entirely on your own device and are never uploaded to our servers. We can’t see your footage, your clips, or your API keys — because they never reach us.
Your source videos and audio. Your exported clips. Your API keys. All video import, transcription hand-off, cutting, reframing, captioning, and rendering happen locally on your machine using bundled tools (such as ffmpeg). None of this media passes through clippi’s servers.
AI features work through a “bring your own key” model. When you use them, the text and audio required for a feature are sent directly from your device to the provider whose key you supplied — for example Groq or OpenAI for transcription and clip detection, or Pexels for stock B-roll.
That data is handled under each provider’s own privacy policy, not ours. We are not a party to that exchange and never receive a copy. You choose which provider to use, and you can review or revoke your keys at any time.
Your API keys are stored locally on your device in your operating system’s secure credential store (the OS keychain). They are not transmitted to us and are used only to call the providers you configured.
Purchase & license: when you buy clippi, our payment processor handles your payment details and provides us with the information needed to issue and validate your license (such as your email and order reference). We do not store full payment-card data.
Website analytics: our website may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand traffic (for example page views). This does not identify you personally.
Support: if you email us, we keep that correspondence to help you.
Only to deliver and support the product: issue and validate licenses, provide updates, respond to support requests, and understand aggregate website usage. We do not sell your personal information.
We keep license and purchase records for as long as needed to support your license and meet legal or accounting obligations. Support emails are kept as long as useful for support. Media never reaches us, so there is nothing for us to retain.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you (such as your license email) by contacting us. Because your media and keys stay on your device, you remain in full control of them directly.
clippi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
